What this site collects

Very little, by design. This website runs no analytics software, no advertising network, no social-media pixels, and no comment or contact forms. When you read a page here, the hosting server records a standard technical log entry — your IP address, browser type, and the page requested — which is retained for 30 days for security purposes and then deleted. We do not read these logs for marketing, and we never sell or share them.

The only third-party request this site makes is to Google Fonts, which serves the typeface (Quicksand) you are reading. Google's own privacy policy governs that request. Everything else — every image, every stylesheet, every script — is served from this domain.

Cookies

This site sets no cookies of its own. There is nothing to opt out of because there is nothing to opt into. If that ever changes, this page will change first, loudly, at the top.

How we fund our work

Penny Heron is funded by its founders and by a small reader-supported reserve. We accept no sponsorships from app makers, no paid placements, and no "review units" beyond ordinary consumer accounts we pay for ourselves. When a review links to an app's official website, that link is provided for your convenience and carries no tracking parameters and no commission arrangement. If a sustainable, conflict-free funding model ever requires affiliate revenue, we will disclose it per-link and per-page, and rankings will remain firewalled from revenue — but as of July 2026, no such arrangement exists anywhere on this site.

Editorial integrity rules

Three rules govern every review we publish. First, we buy every subscription we test, at retail price, without identifying ourselves to the vendor. Second, scores are computed from published category weights before any narrative is written, so the story must fit the numbers rather than the reverse. Third, app makers never see reviews before publication and cannot request changes afterward; factual corrections from any source are evaluated on their merits and noted on the page. Corrections

When we get something wrong, we fix it and say so. Material corrections are noted at the top of the affected article with the date of the change. Minor typographical fixes are made silently, as is conventional. Our review scores are revisited twice a year; the most recent re-scoring cycle completed in July 2026 and is reflected in our app rankings.
